M25 Mediation & Negotiations Skills - Resolving Deadlocks

Location: Chiang Mai, or Bangkok (departure from Singapore)

Course Outline:

The course seeks to train participants who are interested in resolving deadlocks at the workplace among colleagues or during a deal negotiation with an important client. Negotiators often feel that they are not equipped with the skills on how to manage conflicts or impasse. During the course, you will learn the following:

· Principle mediation skill-set
· Listing out both parties’ beliefs and assumptions
· Identifying points of leverage and blockages
· Dealing with impasse
· Legal issues relating to mediation and negotiation

· Tools for effective communication - listening with flexibility and sensitivity

Course Trainer:

Poh Heo Tat obtained his Master of Laws from the National University of Singapore. He has immersed experience in commercial litigation practice and has represented many local and international clients in legal disputes relating to commercial contracts, copyright & trademark infringements and commercial fraud cases. In his legal practice, he acted for clients that include government agencies like statutory boards and universities, international banks and accounting firms.

Currently, he lectures at a local polytechnic and is also an associate tutor in business law with SIM University.

Mr.Poh chairs the Volunteer Probation Officers’ Committee, Ministry of Community Development Youth and Sports (2006-2008) and is admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
